Yılmaz Güney Yol'un senaryosunu hapishanede yazdı, her sahne için ayrıntılı talimatlar hazırladı. Şerif Gören bu talimatlarla dışarıda çekti. Negatifler İsviçre'ye kaçırıldı. Güney bir izin sırasında firar etti, yurt dışında kurguyu kendisi yaptı ve film Cannes'da Altın Palmiye'yi paylaştı. Türkiye'de ise yıllarca gösterilemedi. Sürü'yü de Duvar'ı da aynı yolun farklı duraklarında düşünmek gerekiyor.
Yılmaz Güney wrote the script of Yol in prison and prepared detailed instructions for every scene. Şerif Gören shot the film outside, following them. The negatives were smuggled to Switzerland. Güney escaped while on leave, edited the film himself abroad, and it shared the Palme d'Or at Cannes. In Turkey it could not be shown for years. Sürü and Duvar belong to different stops on that same road.

Los negativos salieron de contrabando hacia Suiza. Güney se fugó durante un permiso, montó él mismo la película en el extranjero y compartió la Palma de Oro en Cannes. En Turquía no pudo verse durante años. Sürü y Duvar son otras paradas del mismo camino.
