Oliver Reed died before the shooting of Gladiator was over, and his remaining scenes were completed with a digital face. Brandon Lee lost his life in an accident on the set of The Crow, and the film was finished with similar methods. When Heath Ledger died, Gilliam split his role among three actors and wrote it into the story: each time the character passes through the mirror, he comes out with a different face. The loss stayed visible inside the film.
