Linklater filmed a boy for twelve years with the same cast. The boy's voice deepens, his face lengthens, and his mother and father grow older alongside him. The same director brought two characters together three times, nine years apart. In the first film they are in their twenties, in the last in their forties; what happened in between you piece together from what they say.
