Kubrick considered his first feature a clumsy amateur job and kept it from being shown for years. It can be seen today, though not with his blessing. Another of his films he pulled from distribution in Britain himself. It had become linked to copycat crimes, and his family had received threats. It only returned to British screens after Kubrick died, while the rest of the world could watch it all along.
Kubrick consideraba su primer largometraje un trabajo torpe de aficionado e impidió durante años que se proyectara. Hoy puede verse, aunque no con su permiso. Otra de sus películas la retiró él mismo de la distribución en Gran Bretaña. Se la había empezado a asociar con crímenes por imitación y su familia había recibido amenazas. Allí no volvió a las pantallas hasta después de su muerte, mientras el resto del mundo podía verla sin problema.
